Get the Picture? Well Aren't you Lucky! December 27th 2024

I left room for a picture up there.     And it worked on my iPad.

Is it just me, or are we being manipulated constantly by the IT industry?  Hopefully I will be able to figure out what I have to do that doesn't involve updating my system .....AGAIN!  We now go through more computers than we do television sets in our house.  We used to laugh that our systems were obsolete before they were taken out of the box.  While this has never been more true, we aren't laughing anymore.  We have been made reliant on a system that changes constantly.  And it would be more manageable if the language that accompanies the changes did not change  as well.

Now I am not an idiot.  I see what is going on out there.  Facebook which has been all but completely abandoned by all but us boomers spends a great deal of cyber space sharing insults hurled towards young people.  They are all lazy.  They don't know how to communicate, or read a book, or go for coffee at the local teen hangout.  They don't like to work.  They don't contribute to the community.  They don't drink milk out of the carton.  They don't respect their elders.  (The elders that share all these horrible things)

So I am thinking that those who are now in our work face and who pull the strings that make our generations cyber life such an absolutely horrific nightmare are showing us just what they are capable of.  For Christmas sake people!  Let us call a truce....... if that's all it takes.  It it isn't,  then let's get down on our bended knee and beg for forgiveness.  Tell them we were only joking.  That we were terrible parents and worse examples and that Gen. X, Y, Z,  and all the way around double AA if necessary have somehow managed to accomplish greatness in spite of us.  Let's tell them we just didn't know what it took to be living as a young person now.

We can praise them for making a phone a pocket computer that controls your life, and your car and your thermostat, and you stove.  We can tell them the dark ages weren't centuries ago, but in those dark times before they discovered cloudy fruity beers.  We can tell them that life without the thong bikini and flossy men's briefs just wasn't any kind of life at all.  That we must have been nuts in the 1960's when we did away with pointed toed shoes, skinny ties, narrow lapels and flood pants.  We can praise them for bringing back the bowl hair cut.    PLEASE PLEASE you older guys and gals!  let us admit defeat and maybe, just maybe techies will speak a language we understand.

I had a really mushy post Christmas blog planned for today.   I lost my way after spending better than an hour trying to fix my picture issue's like a big boy.  And by the time I get this figured out, those mushy post Christmas feelings will be just too long ago.  Oh well,  unless things go terribly wrong, there will be other Christmases.

And My promise to you all is that I will include that picture on my blog when I can actually post one.  I do intend to try using my iPad cause once in a while for no particular reason using a different piece of equipment solves all your issues.  But don't hold your breath.

In case things don't change soon, let me say this to one and all.   ALL THE BEST IN 2025.  Happy New Year and may we all learn to ignore those we have elected and live a happy life until they do something so absolutely stupid that we make them behave.

Let's make sure our neighbours get our help if and when they need it.  Let's make do with what we have and share what we can spare.  Let's enjoy what we have, earn what we want, and not base our values on what others have.   All those things?  From time to time they are so much more difficult than they sound.  But when did the best things in life ever come easy?  Happy New Year!
